SCA Environmental Guidelines

The pages contained in this section have been developed by the SCA to provide paddlers with up to date information on a wide range of environmental issues.

In this section you can reaad about environmental issues that paddlers should be aware of such as poaching and wildlife crimes like the stealing of freshwater pearl mussels.

There are also Codes of Good Practice to follow on topics such as Wild Camping, Human Sanitation and Sea Kayaking.

Then there is useful information on Wildlife, which focuses on breeds such as black throated divers, which for paddlers going onto Highland lochs in springtime is vital reading.

The section on Invasive Species and Biodiversity is essential reading for all paddlers. As well as our longstanding guidance on the Gs salmon parasite, there is also a wide range of information on other biological threats to our waterways and important advice on what you can do to minimise your chances of transporting these dangerous species from one paddling site to another.

So, please have a good look through these pages and absorb as much of this information as you can.
