Advice for Spey group leaders

The River Spey, as well as being one of the worlds finest for salmon fishing, is also an ideal river for journeying by canoe.

Confirmed by the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, on Scottish rivers there is a statutory right of non-motorised navigation and a right of reasonable and responsible access for walkers, cyclists and horse riders over land and to non-motorised craft on inland water www.outdooraccess-scotland.com

As canoe touring becomes even more popular it is imporant that larger groups and regular users do their best to minimise impact on anglers during the fishing season.

Whilst the Paddlers’ Access Code gives general guidance on taking access to water in Scotland further information and advice is available from the SCA River Advisor, Dave Craig on 01540 673826
