Funding and Sponsorship
There are many different sources of funding accessible to sports clubs – the main options are listed below, with a more comprehensive list in sportscotland – Guide to Funding for Sports Projects.
The SCA can assist any club with funding applications and provide support and advice if required.
Awards For All
Small grants programme funded by the National Lottery, which is directed at small, non-profit making community groups, so ideal for sports clubs. Awards range from £500 to £10,000. Local Authority Funding
Your local LA may have funding available to develop recreational and competitive sporting activities. Clubs can contact their LA directly to research potential funding opportunities. Links to your local sports council/authority can be accessed here.
Sportsmatch
Sportsmatch is a scheme administered by sportscotland which provides matching funding to commercial sponsorship secured by clubs on a £ for £ basis. Sponsors are any profit-making businesses and must contribute at least £500. There can be up to 3 sponsors for each project, and sponsorship can be gifts in kind (equipment) as well as cash. Fundraising
Many sports clubs are funded through their own members (fees etc), but there are many ideas for fundraising opportunities, such as quiz nights, entry fees to competitions, raffles etc.
