Course Authorisations
All Coach Education, Safety Training, 3 Star Assessments and 4 or 5 Star Leader Training / Assessment courses must receive prior authorisation from the SCA. Please use the on line application form below to apply for authorisation or download the bulk authorisation template and email to SCA Coaching. Authorisation requests sent by email without this template will not be processed.
Authorisation must normally be sought at least 2 weeks prior to the event date. If you do not have an authorisation number then the course won't be recognised and the SCA will be unable to give certification.
The SCA will verify the qualifications and coach update status of staffing and issue an authorisation number along with associated course paperwork. By granting authorisation, the SCA is confirming the suitability of staffing. If you do not provide details of the staffing, the course will not be authorised. Note - all providers/assessors must meet the BCU Coach update requirement including the child protection requirement from 1/1/12.
If requested, authorised courses will be listed in Scottish Paddler and our events page.
1 and 2 Star courses can be run either individually or as a group based activity and do not require authorisation, but must be conducted by someone registered to assess.
Please note that from 1st January 2012 the SCA will only publish course dates on the website, Scottish Paddler and CoDe for Approved Centres or Approved Paddlesport Providers. If you are not yet approved and would like further information please visit our website or contact us.
