Accessibility and CanoeScotland
We intend to work towards making this website accessible. We are aiming to achieve WAI AA conformance. This is an on going process and we have a lot to do and lots of pages to work on. We have picked a design and look for the site that works on the main browsers - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera (over 98% of our visitors use one of these browsers). It also displays correctly on the Iphone, Opera mobile and Android browsers, though we do not specifically support these. If you think your browser is displaying stale content, please clear the cache and try again.
We do not use audio files or design elements such as scrolling or flashing text.
Standards
We intend to work towards the WAI content guidelines.
Accessibility and PDF documents
You should be able to use the free Acrobat reader to view the PDF files on CanoeScotland. However, Adobe have developed an online conversion tool to allow users to view PDF documents as HTML or plain ASCII text.
Images and Links
We will work to ensure that all images and on CanoeScotland are provided with a meaningful description. Where a link opens in a new browser window, the link will be tagged to say so. We do not use image maps as these can be difficult to use.
Multimedia
We do not use technologies such as flash as these can pose problems for some users, whether they have disabilities or not, due to browser compatibility problems.
Help Us to Help You
Our philosophy is that web pages should look good, display consistently on standards compliant browsers and work on everything else. If you experience any problems, please let us know.
