The Scottish Canoe Association
In 2007 a report showed that canoeing is the most popular watersport for the fifth year running and is proven to be a healthy, social and inclusive sport suitable for people of all ages. This is reflected by SCA membership which currently stands at 3000 individual members including 1,750 qualified coaches.
There is an increasing network of 86 affiliated clubs and 24 approved centres throughout Scotland offering a range of canoe disciplines including Canoe Sailing and Marathon Racing, Touring, Polo, Slalom, Freestyle, Surfing and Sprint.
The active SCA membership is supported by a small team of staff in the areas of: Coaching, Access and Environment and Administration. The SCA is also a founding member of the British Canoe Union (BCU).
It is an exciting time for the Scottish Canoe Association and paddlesports in Scotland with David Florence's Silver Medal at the Beijing Olympics August 2008.
