South Esk: Blockage

Mar 08, 2019
Paddlers should be warned that there is a blockage on the South Esk at Justinhaugh, which is upstream of Finavon on the A90
Approaching Justinhaugh, the river divides around a large island, and the right channel is usually not able to be taken, as it is very shallow.
The left channel then divides again, and the large and fastest flow is extreme left, next to the public road. The right channel here is again very shallow. The left channel is now totally blocked by several trees which have been brought downstream. Paddlers should land on river right at the blockage, and carry over the shingle to deeper water.
