Updated Phase 3 Paddlesport Guidance - 11th September
Sep 11, 2020
The SCA notes the First Minister’s announcement on 10th September and has updated the Paddlesport Guidance for Phase 3.
Public health and wellbeing remains the most pressing priority and the SCA is extremely grateful to paddlers for continuing to follow the government guidance and for helping to suppress the spread of the virus and prevent a second wave.
The key changes taking effect on 14th September, resulting from the new Government legislation are:
Paddling can take place in groups of up to 6 people from a maximum of 2 households. Under 12s do not count towards this total providing they are from the two households.
Organised Activity can take place in groups of up to 30 people. Organised Activity is defined as:
activities are undertaken in a structured and managed way, AND
activities follow SCA guidance and any other relevant guidance, AND
a documented risk assessment is undertaken and mitigating actions put in place to ensure the health, safety and welfare of participants, coaches, officials and the wider public.
We continue to work with sportscotland, the Scottish Government and other governing bodies of sport to ensure that sport and physical activity is delivered safely in line with the guidelines.
Recent figures serve as a timely reminder that the virus has not gone away and we all have a responsibility to do what we can to help suppress the spread of the virus at this time. With that in mind, we encourage everyone to download the Protect Scotland app.
Spaces are available to book for the All Ability session at the 2024 Scottish Women's Paddle Symposium, which will take place 17-19 May 2024 at Glenmore Lodge in Aviemore.
