First Aid Extension Update

Oct 22, 2020
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recognises that some First Aid Providers have resumed first aid training but there remains a backlog or limited availability.  An update on HSE guidance for extensions is available here

Due to the additional guidance, British Canoeing Awarding Body will be further extending the First Aid Extension eLearning to the 31 March 2021.   Therefore, anyone who was required to renew their First Aid qualification from the 16 March 2020 through to 30th March 2021 and has been unable to access a course, can complete the FREE eLearning course that will be recognised by all National Associations.

The First Aid Extension eLearning is a 15 minute programme, which requires both your full name and National Association membership number.  After completion of the course, your attendance will be communicated to your National Association and your record updated.  Anyone who has already completed this extension eLearning will have their record updated

This online resource acts as an extension and is not a replacement for a face to face First Aid programme.  Aligned to the HSE guidance, British Canoeing Awarding Body would expect that a renewal course is attended ahead of the 31 March 2021.  This should be done as soon as possible and due to the levels of demand, early booking is encouraged.

During the COVID-19 period, specific guidelines have been provided for First Aiders and we recommend that all First Aiders read and follow the advice from the Resuscitation Council (UK).
