Safeguarding Training

We are committed to making sure young people enjoy paddlesport in a safe environment, protected from poor practice or abuse. 

Safeguarding Training is an important step for all those involved in coaching, leading, instructing, guiding, oficiating and to those involved in managing activities such as employers, committee members and board members. 

 

Safeguarding applies to the protection of children AND adults.

Already completed training through your work place or different setting?

You may have already attended Basic Safeguarding training or Online Introductory training through your work place or local authority. See our guidance  see if your course can be recognised as an equivalent course to those detailed above.


Safeguarding Training for Coaches and Leaders

Minimum Training Requirements for Coaches and Leaders


From 30th September 2020, the minimum training requirement is:

  • Coaches working regularly or alone with children are required to attend a minimum 3-hour face-to-face training course. For Example Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport
  • All other coaches should attend the above or complete recognised web-based training. (e.g. British Canoeing Online Training)

Coaches are asked to send evidence of the training to the SCA by email or post in order that their records can be updated. To check your record, log in to the online portal.
