Glenmore Lodge 18 and Under Core Coach Training 18th & 19th July

Mar 14, 2022

This 2-day Core Coach Training course is happening on July 18th & 19th 2022 during Glenmore Lodge's 'Under 18s Week', where all courses on offer are designed for young people.

After being inspired by our young paddlesport instructors of the last couple of years, the SCA has launched a new Core Coach Training course in partnership with Glenmore Lodge designed specifically for young people aged 18 and under.

The 2-day course is happening on July 18th & 19th 2022 during Glenmore Lodge's 'Under 18s Week' where all courses on offer are designed for young people, giving attendees the opportunity to meet other young people who are passionate about outdoor activities.

The Core Coach Training course is the first step towards gaining a British Canoeing Coaching Qualification. The course aims to give you the tools to plan and adapt your coaching sessions so that they work for the people you’re coaching. It’s a two day practical course where you will be out on the water learning about and trying out different coaching techniques. You can find out more about the qualification here.

If you are interested in taking your qualifications a step further and becoming a Coach (in whatever discipline) this course could be for you.

Cost:

If you book before the end of March, the course will cost:

  1. Non-residential: £206 (increasing to £218 from 1st April)
  2. Residential: £244 (increasing to £285 from 1st April)

Don't be put off - you may qualify for a sportscotland scholarship to cover up to 60% of the cost of this course. Find more information about funding here.

If you are able to give back and coach in your club, we encourage you to approach them to ask if they would be able to help cover the costs of your course, or see if they can help you find/apply for other funding.

More information:

We are more than happy to help anyone who is interested in this course and have set up a few Zoom sessions where you (and your parents/guardian if they want) can come along and find out more about the qualification and the specific course at Glenmore Lodge. You can book these here:

It will ask you to ‘login’ or ‘sign-up’ - as a Paddlesport Instructor you will already have an account and be able to ‘login’; there are options on the login page to help if you have forgotten password and/or username. Get in touch if you are having any trouble.
