Loneliness Awareness Week 2022

Jun 13, 2022

Loneliness Awareness Week is observed from June 13-June17'22.

Two years in a global pandemic have been a difficult time for most people, one where we experienced varying degrees of loneliness and isolation. Keeping active, and having a community surrounding a sport are great ways to keep feelings of loneliness at bay.

Paddling is proven to be good for your mental and physical wellbeing, you can read ten reasons why here: https://gopaddling.info/10-reasons-paddling-is-good-for-mental-health/

If you’re keen to be part of a supportive, wholesome paddlesport community you can get started here: https://www.canoescotland.org/go-paddling/getting-started

If you are a member of the SCA already, and want to be part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Equality Group and take the conversation around loneliness further you can do so by getting in touch here: equality@canoescotland.org

The SCA have also launched an e-learning module focused on Mental Health and Wellbeing. This module is free and is designed for paddlers, coaches, parents and officials involved in paddlesport.
