SCA Launches 'Fit for Girls'

Jun 30, 2023

We are looking for girls aged 11-18 who are passionate about paddlesport, and keen to share this passion, to get involved with our new 'Fit for Girls' programme.

Our 'Fit for Girls' team will join a 2-year programme delivered in partnership with sportscotland. It will involve face-to-face workshops and work within your own club or centre to encourage others to join in. These workshops will include a range of activities designed to support your development and help you make a difference in the sport.

We need this team to help us shape paddlesport so it better supports girls, and as role models to inspire other girls to take part in the sport.

The dates for the two workshops, to be held in Edinburgh are:

  • 4th or 11th November 2023, 10:00 - 15:00 (TBC)
  • 11th January 2024, 10:00 - 15:00

Nominations

If you know any girls who might be interested, please share this with them and encourage them to apply, or you can nominate them directly. If you want to nominate someone, tell us a little bit about why they would be a good candidate and email this to Lara.

Application

If you want to apply, you need to answer these three questions:

  1. Are you passionate about paddling? (Tell us what you do, what you love about it, and about your future hopes)
  2. How do you think paddlesport in Scotland can improve for girls?
  3. What would you like to do to inspire and support other girls to paddle?

You can write your answers down, send us a short video or voice note, or create a poster.

Friends make good partners! Why not encourage one another to get involved - if you want, you can apply as a pair and work together in your club or centre to make a difference.

The application deadline has been extended to 23:59 on Thursday August 3rd.

If you would like more information or to chat to us about this please contact Lara or Roger.
