Sprint & Slalom athletes ready to kick off the international selection season in style

Apr 08, 2022

National Regatta and Slalom selections are taking place over the next two weekends.

As the racing season gets into full swing we would like to wish the very best to the SCA performance squad athletes and all other Scots racing at the April Sprint Regatta (9th & 10th) and the British Slalom Selections (16th-18th) in what will be an exciting April of Racing.

Firstly the April regatta will involve selections for Senior and Paracanoe World Cups, U23 & Junior European Championships as well as the Brandenburg International Regatta. There will be numerous Scots in contention for places including Tokyo 2020 Olympians Deborah Kerr and Katie Reid. Kristina Armstrong will be looking to build on her selections to the World Championships & European Championships last year and will be supported by a strong squad of promising young paddlers.

The British Slalom Selections will be held on the Olympic Course at Lee Valley and will see Tokyo 2020 Olympian Bradley Forbes-Cryans racing for further international Honours. With all British teams to be selected across three days of racing, it's certain to be an exciting racing series. There will be numerous Scottish paddlers with international experience in contention for places including Sam Leaver who has raced so well over the last two seasons and will be looking to put his stamp on this selection series.
