Updated Phase 3 Paddlesport Guidance including use of indoor pools

Sep 24, 2020

The SCA notes the First Minister’s announcement on 22nd September and has updated the Paddlesport Guidance for Phase 3.

Public health and wellbeing remains the most pressing priority and the SCA is extremely grateful to paddlers for continuing to follow the government guidance and for helping to suppress the spread of the virus and prevent a second wave.

The key changes taking effect on 24th September, resulting from the new Government legislation are:
  • Addition of guidance relating to non-contact activity in indoor swimming pools (Appendix F)
  • Update to group composition for informal paddling, where a group comprises entirely of 12-17 year olds (point 2a)
  • Clarification of field of play for indoor activity (point 3)
  • Update to travel guidance to  state people should not car share with those from outside their household (point 5)
So far over 350 paddlers have completed the free Covid Officer elearning.  This is a requirement of Organised Activity.  Find out more about organised activity here.

We continue to work with sportscotland, the Scottish Government and other governing bodies of sport to ensure that sport and physical activity is delivered safely in line with the guidelines.

Recent figures serve as a timely reminder that the virus has not gone away and we all have a responsibility to do what we can to help suppress the spread of the virus at this time. With that in mind, we encourage everyone to download the Protect Scotland app.
