Virtual Ocean Racing

Jul 29, 2020

Sea Kayak, Surski, SUP or any craft! 10Km & 20Km options available..

With so many races cancelled in the 2020 season, including the classic Oban Sea Kayak race, Tail O'the Bank and the Moray Firth Challenge we wanted to provide the excitement of a race event with paddlers doing a 10km or 20km wherever they can between 1st August 2020 and 31st August 2020, logging the time and adding times to our virtual leaderboard.

We are running this to continue to raise money for the RNLI, a charity that does fantastic work and provides support and reassurance particularly to paddlers who like to paddle on the sea.

Competitors must start and finish at the same point to minimise the effect of the wind, current etc.  The competition is free to enter but we ask that if you're willing and able to make a donation to the RNLI Just Giving page.

The vibrant competition gives paddlers an additional incentive to train with the lure of taking on not only friends and club-mates but paddlers from around the world.

It seems a great way to connect paddlers across Scotland, Wales, England and the world to participate and compete in a flexible way over a time period in their home waters, and if successful there is consideration of making it a regular fixture in years to come.
