COP 26 - Events for Paddlers

Oct 18, 2021

With COP26 taking place in Glasgow 31st October - 12th November, we have organised this online event to raise awareness of what's happening and to enable us all to think more holistically about our sport's environmental footprint.

Beyond the bottle: exploring new ideas to improve the environmental footprint of our sports

11th November

7.30pm

With COP26 taking place in Glasgow, we’re opening up a conversation to explore the environmental footprint of outdoor sports.

We can all have an impact, both through our own individual actions, and through considering our unique routes to influence. Everyone by now probably takes a reusable water bottle with them, but beyond this, what else can, or should we be doing?

Join us for this session, led by environmental scientists at Fidra to:

  • Think more holistically about environmental impacts
  • Be inspired to make personal changes
  • Think about larger changes that your club or organisation could make
  • Gain knowledge with which to make informed decisions when choosing kit
  • Learn more around plastics and chemical pollutants like PFAs
  • Learn more about citizen science projects that we can all get involved in

Who’s invited?

Anyone that participates in outdoor sport that has an interest in the environment! Whether you’re into paddling, walking, mountaineering, snowsports, sailing, cycling, rowing, outdoor swimming, or horse riding - you can bring some value to the conversation and leave feeling inspired and more informed about the environmental footprint of the sports you do.
