Maddy Jennings - Paracanoe Pathway Officer Announcement

Jun 27, 2022

We are delighted to announce that Maddy Jennings has been been appointed to the role of Paracanoe Pathway Officer. This role is key in supporting our ambition to provide paddlesport opportunities for all and follows on from successful engagement with the 'Wheels to Water' campaign as well as other inclusive paddlesport initiatives.

Maddy is a successful Slalom paddler who has been working with the SCA as an apprentice coach since January 2021. Her passion for paddlesport as well, her coaching background and experience co-developing the Slalom Inspires C1 Women Academy made her the ideal candidate for this exciting role.

Maddy is now looking to get stuck into this role in a discipline which is relatively new to her, here's what she has to say:

'Parasport is a brand new area for me to work in having come from a canoe slalom background. It's daunting stepping out of slalom for my first real time, but paracanoe is such an exciting and fast growing sport which I am looking forward to learning more about and growing with it. I am delighted paracanoe is starting to get the attention it needs to develop in Scotland and I feel really lucky to get to be a part of this positive step towards more inclusive paddling.'

Speaking of Maddy's appointment to this role Jon Schofield, Head of Performance and Pathways says:

"I'm excited to see Maddy progress in this role, which will require a significant amount of planning and collaborative working. With the team she has around here as well as the Paracanoe knowledge and support from British Canoeing, I feel she has a great opportunity to build a strong paracanoe pathway in Scotland"
