The new sections of text from the updated guidance are included below:
Coaching
One-to-one personal coaching is permitted where those being coached use either their own equipment or equipment that only they have access to for the duration of Phase 1. No shared equipment should be used in Phase 1. This is ”coaching” and not “instruction” and does not apply to beginner sessions. BC/SCA courses/assessments and regular courses cannot take place in Phase 1.
One-to-one personal coaching is only permitted if it is outdoors, physical distancing can be maintained, and is with members of your household and/or members of one other household. A coach may not deliver training to more than one household at any one time or to more than one household per day. When coaching you should avoid touching surfaces and avoid touching your mouth and face. Appropriate safeguarding measures must be put in place where those being coached are under 18 (e.g. a parent present).
Clubs
Normal club activities should not take place in Phase 1 as all club and community facilities must remain closed. There are also restrictions about meeting up with others. BC/SCA courses/assessments, regular club sessions and beginner sessions cannot take place in Phase 1.
In certain circumstances club committees can decide to allow the one-off removal of equipment from the club. Such equipment must be taken away from the club and stored off site and only used by the individual/household group concerned. The SCA has produced an approved document setting out how this can be achieved safely. This document is available from the SCA on request.
Clubs may facilitate one-to-one coaching, with existing club members, as defined in the Coaching section above. This is conditional on all Scottish Government guidelines being met and those being coached using either their own equipment or equipment that only they have access to for the duration of Phase 1. No shared equipment should be used in Phase 1.
Centres
Normal centre activities should not take place in Phase 1. All indoor and outdoor facilities must remain closed and the restrictions about meeting up with others prevent normal centre operations. BC/SCA courses/assessments, regular courses and beginner sessions cannot take place in Phase 1.
Centres may facilitate one-to-one coaching as defined in the Coaching section above. This is conditional on all Scottish Government guidelines being met and those being coached using either their own equipment or equipment that only they have access to for the duration of Phase 1. No shared equipment should be used in Phase 1.
Where a centre or organisation manages access to water which is not otherwise possible, access can be permitted providing physical distancing can be maintained. All indoor facilities including toilets and changing facilities must remain closed.
Where a coach or centre already provides support to individuals who have care packages in place for health conditions (e.g. autism or learning disabilities) careful consideration may be given to continuing to provide these services during Phase 1. Such activities are the exception - and can only take place where all Scottish Government guidelines are met. This type of activity should not be extended to new clients or the general public.
At the moment we do not have all the details of future phases, further information will be required from the Government on some specific areas before the later phases can be finalised. Also please note that the Government guidelines are liable to change.
We will provide updates relevant to paddlesport through all our channels so please keep in touch for further information. Lastly we would like to wish you a successful, careful and enjoyable return to the water.
