Reaching out to Paddlers

Jun 30, 2022

Paddlesport is a fantastic activity that can have a positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing.

It can be an incredibly social activity, where groups enjoy experiences in the natural environment together. Paddling gives us the chance to explore nature from a new perspective on the water, share new experiences, de-stress, escape from digital devices and clear the mind. The joy of paddling is that it can also be a solitary activity once you have experience and knowledge to paddle alone given the right circumstances, allowing you to get so many varied experiences from the sport.

The Scottish Canoe Association wants to help increase accessibility for people in Scotland from ethnically diverse communities to share these experiences and to promote paddling for better health and mental wellbeing.

We are looking for people from ethnically diverse communities who are interested in supporting paddlesport activities for themselves, their friends and families. We can provide support to help you get started and take the first steps. We can train leaders, teaching the basics to help get you started, and help you connect with our partners at Paddling Centres to access equipment and facilities. We can work with you to ensure that you can take part in a way that suits you, building the activity up around the things you want to do and the way you want to do them.

We also want to learn from you - How can paddlesports be more accessible? We would be grateful for any information or feedback.
